Tips
#1
As an actor/singer in highschool there is a bunch of tips out there for keeping your voice and helping you sing/act better :3
Some of the tips can be quirky or random
For me personally I like to drink hot tea before singing at an audition or performance it helps relax my nerves and such and I believe it helps your voice.
Anyone have good tips? ^^

Can I go back to the classic's?

Look both ways before crossing the road.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Shit in one hand and wish in the other and see which fills up faster.

I dont know if its true, but I once read that one of Cher's "tricks" to keeping from going hoarse while singing was spraying good with Chloroseptic spray before going on.

Another one of Cher's tricks in more recent years was to pretend she was singing while a computer simulated her voice instead:

Kinda old, but!

When I was being trained to sing (before my voice became nasal...Sad ), my teacher said to drink water between songs, but that often made me run to the little ladies room...

And another favourite, although weird one, is to consume honey, as it lubricates the throat/vocal chords(so singers say), but then you'll be wondering why you have Type II Diabetes after like 5 performances. :\

I personally like to do falsettos and runs, or even Glissandos to "stretch" or exercise my voice, but that's really rudimentary. But it feels like things flow smoother when I do this :p.

What do you mean by nasal? You sure you're lifting your soft palate high enough, or that you have enough space to get the resonance coming out in a clearer tone. Nasality is usually a problem with your resonance. I know I have issues with it because I have enlarged tonsils and they tend to block out the sound hence me sounding stuffy or like I have a cold when I sing.

Chloroseptic sprays numb the throat, not a good idea for singing. If you're singing incorrectly and there's pain you wont feel it. Water and or honey is better for that.

...NOT.

Typical of the things they might say down in Dorset and Somerset, but up here in the Midlands, plenty of us live singers tend to do the following:
Avoid industrial polluted areas (Thank goodness the steel industry has all but disappeared in South Yorks these days).
Avoid eating dairy products too close to the day of performance, including milk in coffee, etc.
Drink herbal teas, although china tea with a bit of milk should be OK if not too much milk.
I also find herbal remedies such as inhaling OLBAS oil (a Eucalyptus oil product) great for clearinng the throat.
Also cough-sweets such as Tunes, Lockets, Jakemans (A local cough-sweet in 50p packs) work well just before a performance if you have been having sore throat/cold/hayfever lately.

And for hayfever, do keep taking those antihistamines; the one-tablet-a-day version works OK.
