Some Dream Parts
#1
I do plenty of musical theater and I'm curious, boy or girl, whatever, anyone who does musical theater, or just some part you'd love to play in a musical. List some off! I know I have lots of parts I strive for one day!

A Chorus Line - Greg
Carousel - Billy
Throughly Modern Millie - Graydon
Sweeny Todd - Sweeny Todd
Les Mis - Javert
The Producers - Rodger Debris/Carmen Ghia
The Last Five Years - Jamie
Music Man - Harold Hill
Spamalot - Lancelot
The Wizard of Oz - Scarecrow
Gypsy - Herbie
Next to Normal - Gabe Goodman
West Side Story - Riff
Avenue Q - Trekkie Monster
Hair - Woof
Legally Blonde: The Musical - Callahan
Damn Yankees - Devil

AND IF I WAS HISPANIC YOU KNOW I'D WANT USNAVY OR BENNY IN "IN THE HEIGHTS" sadly I'm white D: Depressing, right?

ANYWAYS.

Anyone else care to share a list of their dream roles? Or even just a few?

I like your list. Mine would be:

Che in Evita
The Baker in Into the Woods
Arnold Cunningham in The Book of Mormon
George in Sunday in the Park with George
Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man...
Like you, Sweeney Tood
Enjolras in Les Miserables
Albin in La Cage aux Folles
And uh.... the Phantom.... yes I said it.

I'm not much of a singer, but a fella can dream can't he?

Though it's not a musical role, the part that I would strangle a small puppy for (an evil one, don't worry) is Tom in the Glass Menagerie. I directed the play about five years ago for a community theatre and fell more deeply in love with the script than I had been when I began. It's a beautiful play and Tom is my ultimate dream role.

I just saw The Music Man a few weeks ago when my college put it on. The production was slick, but the problem with trying to do that show is the difficulty in casting a decent Harold Hill. He has to be charismatic, magnetic and likable enough to convince the audience that he could swindle those Iowans, and also be just sleazy enough to believe he would be capable of being such a scoundrel. Ultimately, the Harold Hill I saw did a great Robert Preston impression.....

But that was just my feeling about the show. Oh well, what would a theatre nerd be without his snobbery and passive aggressive jealousy?

I believe Mary Kay has products that would give you that Latino look - dark skin, black hair...

Of course there is the whole persona of a Latino man that you would have to act out...

Yummm Latinos.... Hot and spicy....

BTW has anyone seen Lalo lately???

I dont do theater, or pretend to know what all is in theater....but there are some characters I would love to play, regardless of them being stage productions or not....

The Wicked Witch of the West (movie version)
Malificent from Sleeping Beauty
The Wicked Step Mother in Cinderella
The witch from Into the Woods

Oh hell, pretty much ANY good witch part!!!
I would love to play any sarcastic devil part too.

And you would think I would want a part in Cats.....right?
Well, I tried watching that play on PBS when it was having its final run...
and I was bored SHITLESS! What a HORRIBLE play!!!

Hmmm, I would, however, LOVE to be the Phantom of the Opera (in a gay production)!!
