Be kind to your animal friends.....

These people were treated like lepers, whores, and leches all their lives, by coworkers and family...so they turned to the animal kingdom for friends and family.

So sad. But I understood exactly.

Well my life history is no big secret. I learned real early that humans ain't basically harmless or basically good.

My old dog carries on her back a shitload of tears and confessions of horrors that I have witnessed. I whispered in her ear and told her things I told no other human being, and she has faithfully carried that great burden for me.

Every time I have trusted a cat, a dog, the squirrel on my roof - I have gotten 100% faithfulness and loyalty in return.

I honestly can't name one human being that has done that for me. Every single time they end up knifing me as soon as I turn my back.Rolleyes

Thats sad.
But I can say, I can trust a few (VERY few) people in my life. Mainly the ones I hold close to me as family. Ive fucked up more times than I can count, and they still keep coming back to me....no ill will or hard feelings. They are all my angels of mercy.

I think though, if it were not for our furry friends, the human race would have died out a long long time ago...simply from stress and hatred.

Poachers vs hunters -

Poachers are vile, contemptible, despicable dregs of humanity. They kill for sport and/or money, regardless of what they are killing. They themselves should be hunted down and exterminated.

Hunters - those who hunt for food. I am not a hunter, but I do understand the food chain.
As long as you eat what you kill, I dont have any issues, as long as its a clean kill.

Cruelty to animals is a horrific crime, it should be severely punished and nothing legitimises it, not even medical research.

I totally agree with this whole post. I've always loved animals and too try to help them if they need it. Hell, I even take spiders that are in the house and put them outside.

On another note.. I really can't understand why ANYONE would speed up their car to intentionally hit a cat, or any animal for that matter. Obviously there's something severely wrong with a person that would do that. A lack of empathy... morals? Sick..

.. and since this thread is a bit of a rant, I'll also say that I hate it when you respond to an article on animal abuse or something.. and people start bitching that it's "just a dog".. or "just a cat" -- that instead of worrying about them, we should be worrying about all the orphan children out there.. blah blah blah..

CARING ABOUT ANIMALS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU CARE ANY LESS ABOUT HUMANS (even though a large majority are douches).

I seriously hate when people assume otherwise.

Absolutely.

In fact, one implies the other. You cannot care about people and condone animal cruelty. Like Peter Singer said, animals are a test to your character: you only show your true character before the weak and nobody's more fragile and helpless than an animal.

If you do jump, you'll experience the 2 week detox which makes you feel pretty bad, and that's what stopped me on my first attempt. It took me about a year of moving over. You've got to want to do it FOR yourself and FOR your ideals. It won't work if you feel you're banning yourself, it's important to feel liberated.
Thanks for the advice. I don't think would be so difficult for me, I don't eat a big amount of meat or fish and sometimes I feel guilty while eating...
At the moment I'm not sure, but I'm thinking about it...

Here are some "meat alternatives":

Mushrooms - get about the same protein as meat, but without eating actual meat.

Nuts - Nut butters, nut loafs....stuff like that. Also good meat substitutes.

Bean Curd/Tofu - excellent meat substitute if you can learn how to use it from an expert.
Otherwise its pretty nasty.

Squash - there are some squash's that grow large, and you can cut them into "steaks" (large, thick pieces) and fry them like chicken fried steak, or grill them like a small steak or burger. Eggplant works the same way, but you have to be sure to peel it first.

Veggie burgers - I dont care for these, but some people say you cant tell there isnt meat in some brands.

All good ideas..

I personally have yet to find a "meat substitute" that tastes decent / I can enjoy. I can always tell the difference. I do however really like the veggie burgers that aren't really meant to taste like meat.

Those are good in my opinion. They taste mostly like mushrooms rather than fake meat :p
