Hey everyone (:, this is my first thread, And I'm making it because I've seen a lot of people with Depression that feel like no one understand what they feel, or other people who just got over that horrid emotional state and want to help people who's going true it.

sooo I think I'm basically making this because I need help too lol, The other day my mother was worried because I used to be this shy but happy boy who had really good friends and stuff, but now I've changed a lot, I cry a lot, (I thought it was normal, since I'm really emotional haha) but I just cry because stupid things, like when I was about to come out to my best friend and I started crying because I imagined that she wouldn't accept it and will stop talking to me and stuff (which didn't happen lol).... soooo.... What I was talking about? oh yeah :| I need some halp :c I don't have anyone to talk to about this, I feel alone...

Oh, and I'm sorry if there's a thread kinda like this already, just tell me and I'll delete it xD

If that ^^^ example is an example of what you cry over, I think you need to take your internal dictionary in for a tune up.... get the word "Stupid" checked.

Crying because you are worried about losing a friend by coming out is not a stupid thing.

It is indeed a valid reason to shed tears or at the very least feel sorrow.

A stupid reason to cry would be if you spilled a few drops of milk on the floor - ergo the saying 'crying over spilled milk'

Understand that most healthy human beings get sad over, what you define as 'stupid things'. Sure, a lot of tough people can hide their tears behind the mask of a smile, the truth is hiding the tears with a mask is unhealthy and more of a problem than being able to show your true feelings.

True depression is where you are sad all of the time over 'nothing' - meaning there is nothing that you are particularly sad about (such as the real threat of losing a special person in your life).

Are you sad when others are happy? Are you sad because the sun is out, and sad when the sun goes behind a cloud, sad when the sun comes out again, sad because there are puppies frolicking in the green field under the sun? If yes, then chances are you have depression.

If you are sad over 'stuff' yet able to be happy over other stuff (Happy the sun is out, sad because the sun has gone away, happy when the sun comes out - happy out of your skull that puppies are present) then you are having a full range of healthy 'normative' emotions that connect or are a proper response to the emotional stimuli provided.

You shed tears - Great for you.

I don't shed tears, well I do, but I have "rules" because you see I am a man and I was raised up to know that 'real men' don't shed tears, so I only allow myself to cry in the shower... Yes as a matter of fact there have been days when I have taken a lot of showers.

My response to sadness/grief/loss/etc is unhealthy.

To recap: Tears = healthy - Mask wearing to hide tears = unhealthy.

I suspect you have some myth-conceptions about what it is to be a real human being, most likely because the human beans in your life are so out of touch with what emotions are about and so busy wearing their happy mask, you don't get to see how lonely and sad being human really is and you think that happy is the natural state.

Its not.

It kinda was stupid because she's been my friend forever and we love eachother no matter what :b, I kinda did it to have an excuse to cry, I cried in the shower 3 days ago because I saw a spider die because of the water, Sometimes I cry because I feel like I'm one of those persons who are useless, I cry because I can't see myself having a future, I cry because I know that whenever a person wanna be my friend is just because he/she wants to use me in some way, I feel like even my mother is tired to HAVE to talk to me, to be with me, I'd be annoyed by myself, I cry because I don't have anyone to talk to, but the people on forums in the internet, but crying is not the only thing that makes me think that I'm kinda depressed.
I know those are just small problems, That I'm just being dramatic and peope has real problems, but I just think it's not healty for a person to feel like this it's whole life, maybe I need to tell someone, maybe what that's what I tried to do when I made this thread... I just wanted to know if there's another person who's feeling like this so I won't feel alone anymore... idk.

I'm going to side with Krupt on this one. Unless a doctor actually diagnoses you with depression, it's hard to say whether you actually have it or not. Many people self-diagnose with depression, which makes people who actually have depression look bad. I'm not saying for a fact that you don't have it, but if you really think it's bad enough then talk to a doctor about it. Depression is a mental illness that requires treatment. Feeling down is not and will pass in time.

Krupt, I got tired from visiting doctors and psy...thingys, Some of them even say I'm kinda crazy... Some of them say that it can be fixed with some medicine.... maybe I'm just too young and I don't know what happines feels like yet? :I

I'm also agreeing with what Krupt is saying.

On another note, people throw the word "Depressed" around too much whenever they're feeling down yet misunderstand the real struggles of someone who has real depression.

I'm not saying this is you Cake, but you need to be careful with trying to diagnose yourself.

I so prefer the word - meloncolony; when applicable. The word depression is just - just - so commercial and pharmaceutical - Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro? Busbar? Insurance please?

If you protect yourself from feeling sad, lonely, despair, etc, you will also be denying yourself happiness and joy. You can't truly have one end of the spectrum without the other. All of these feelings are temporary in a healthy life. By allowing them all, we can live fully.

That seems to be my challenge, anyway.

Hey Cake. Do you like who you are? Are you sensative towards things? Do you overly think things that you don`t need to? Do you wish about things that you don`t like? Sorry for the questions but i hope you answer these questions so then i know what advice to give you instead of saying you haven`t got this. Take care.

Hi CakeLuv,
spend some time watching little kids Rolleyes Happiness is not about the age.

I am not sure how old you are, but if those feelings started lately without a reason, couldn't it be a matter of hormonal change?
Because crying about the stuff like stomping on a bug and hormones goes well together.

I hope you will feel better soon. And the thing you mentioned - about the fear of coming out to your friend - no, it's not silly at all.
