I dunno if I would say it goes over our head...its just the geographical differences. I dont know what people are like from Lacanshire or other places like that even in the different parts of London. So the whole jokes about people being from "such n such" a place I dont really get.

The two major problems I have with most British tv is they talk way too fast and run words together so fast that I cant even tell what they are saying.

The second problem is the British humor just isnt funny to me most of the time. A prime example is The Office. Its that dry/awkward humor that just isnt funny to me. Its the same when I tried to watch Monty Python too. I keep waiting waiting waiting waiting for the joke and it never comes. Tongue

Again really no offense meant...just saying what I find funny and not funny. Its not a bad thing its just personal preference. Smile

In truth, Vicious is very entertaining, and it is... er... vicious! Wink

I so agree Kaiwaii Puss, The British version of The Office makes me wanna just wanna take a walk, like it is very much a "cultural thing", in that it's really not that funny if you don't know the culture and how things work and the like.

We speak fast and string words together fast too, however, the Brits do it differently and probably because of the Caribbean influence, we are slightly more understandable, cause British peeps be like "GoodMorning,'avingaChatWithTheBirdsAreWe?"

And I'm like ???

It reminds me a little of the people from Shetland and Orkney, Scotland, who speak Scots-Norse and used to until the1800s speak Norn, which was the old form of Norse, spoken by Vikings I believe... It's all weird lol.

Although, the same can be said for us, speaking Old English with a Caribbean and to a lesser extent, American influences.

In fact...All Islanders are weird! Just look at Manx Gaelic on the Island of Man!

Oh well Kawaii Puss, looks like you'll have to tune your ears if you're to continue to watch Euro-TV Wink .

Oh ofcourse Princey Dear!

Their Island is called a Continent! How could I have forgotten! :p

But England, Scotland, Ireland and those do not share the the same circumstantial and incendental things smaller Islands do and have joined together to form a Union/Kingdom, while Islands such as Bermuda, Jamaica, Curacao and so on, while being a part of Caricom, are not so closely integrated.

Perhaps I just do not view them as islands... They don't act like they are Islanders! Lol :p

Yes its true queen and were not very exotic Sad I.liked all you said except the "British version" of the office, uum there's only "the office" the original, and then "other" versions Big Grin . I found the one with Steve Carrell weird buts that's just because of what I was used to, it was like watching the office but in another dimension :0 but the office is very old now and i would no way judge our comedy from that, though I used to find it hilarious, it was really different at the time!

Dropping in to note that I've never laughed at any version of The Office that I've seen, but the US one is downright painful to watch.

The original version is obviously superior. The American version sucked out all the realism and therefore destroyed the sense of pain and cringiness (yes, I made up a word. Deal with it). Though I'll admit, sometimes I watch the American version for the mindless slapstick fun.

It's like the difference between South Park and Family Guy. South Park can be like a fine meal with nuances, genuine cleverness, and an artistic purpose. Family Guy doesn't give a shit about it's characters or story, it's just a bunch of gags (often very funny ones) strung together for 23 minutes. Both have their appeal and their place.

Oh yeah, and I watch QI religiously (on Youtube) as well as all the Jonathan Ross stuff I can and Nevermind the Buzzcocks when Simon Amstell was on it. Sherlock is also surprisingly funny. If I had to pick between all British programming and all American, the choice would be clear (though I'd miss South Park and Louie).... I'd choose Japanese!

Ahhh, the 'ol "Bait and Switch"

Yeah, thats true, sometimes i see family guy more as a sketch show, like you said - unrelated gags and a "loose" storyline lol

Yes murlz, they are a bit painfull lol, i havent watched for years, but used to piss myself at some bits lol ricky gervais made "derek" this year, that was sweet and good, the last episode actually made me cry, not sure its been on anywhere else.
