Some of them are cut a few times over, but most of them just happen to been really deep, so my options are limited, and I'd rather not have to cover up my arms forever with long sleeve shirts, etc.. especially in the summer heat!

I've seen some remarkable coverup tattoos when I google: "Scar Cover Up", so I know there is some great potential in my case.

I like the tattoo cover up idea. Ask the places near you that you're considering, if they have a scar tissue specialist.

My top of my back is covered in scars, where I put picking at the spots and scabs.

I just cant stop doing it to my self. it all started when I was put into a special school for behavioral problems. They teachers there were very bad. Stuff happened to me that I blank out of my mind and I do get flash backs of some of it but I really don't want to back there (in side my head).

I can relate. I cut from childhood into adulthood. I have many scars on my arms but they've faded over time and aren't as bad as they were in my twenties. Sad to say, I still have to fight the urge frequently. You aren't alone.

My wife has a history if self-injury, her arms and to a certain extent her legs are covered in scars from cutting and burning. She had an extremely serious burn and ending up requiring a skin graft on her arm also. I wish I could give everyone that is going through this a huge hug! Through her I know what a struggle it is, and how self-conscious the scars can make a person.

Problem is, I can't find too many resources, if any on finding a tattoo artist who specializes in tattooing scar tissue. It requires great expertise to pull of, so I'd want the best, and am willing to pay. If anyone can pull something up for me, let me know!

My wife is in the process of having her scars tattooed over, generally cuts are fairly easy to tattoo over, most artists want the scars to be at minimum two years old though. The artist may charge a slightly higher fee (my wife has an excellent artist who does not) because it is almost guaranteed that the tattoo will need to be gone over again once it heals because scars do not take ink quite as well as non-scarred skin. Skin grafts and deep tissue burns are a different story as the ink tends to spread beneath the skin making sharp details a problem.

Yes, I have a history of self-mutilation.

The scars are not visible to just anyone as I only cut in one place, my left abdomen.

I have not cut in many months now and have had no desire to do so. I believe this might be due to a new psych medication I have been on.

I just feel so sorry for all you guys. I wish there was a magic wand which would take it all away.
