If you abuse any dog, they will become aggressive. Breed has nothing to do with it.

Breed has little to do with it but it's how you train your dog. pit bulls can be very good family dogs.

i have a pitt/lab mix named brutus, he may be a knuckle-headed idiot, but he's a good knuckle-headed idiot, if that makes any sense

so true - its the owners that need the training as much as the dog, I have 2 French mastiffs and they are very large but are the most gentle dogs we have had in our family, they have both been to puppy training and adult training so they are used to socialising with many dogs and they obey commands easily - certain breeds do get very bad press as its sells papers by calling them devil dogs as the uk tabloids do if something bad happens to a person, it doesn't have the same impact with a headline saying "woman savaged by basset hound"

Jealous Matty! I want a Bull Mastiff. They are so cute to me.
I would name him Bear, but pronounced in my Dialect Bur, or BeBe if its a gurl, and I would just swathe him/her with my love and cuddles and kissies.
No Animal is bad. That's a quality Humans give to them based on their idealisms.
We had a Parrot who was tormented for years and no one paid her any attention, so when I started working at the Aquarium, I made it a point to talk and play with her everyday for at least an hour and now, she comes to eat not only from my hand, but others too without biting out of anxiety.
Give love and trust and Animals will always if not try to give it back. This is my firm belief.
That parrot could've easily dislocated, or even torn off my finger with it's powerful beak, but she didn't. And yes I have handled plenty of other birds, so it wasn't just a fluke or luck. I've been bitten by other birds who I treat the same way, but every animal is different.

Its lack of humanity that leads to bad dogs and bad animals.

So much support for pit bulls here. I love it! I've been an avid supporter for pit bulls for years now, and it sickens me how there can be so much hatred for them in the world. Pit bulls are the same species entirely as every dog breed in the world, and yet they are viewed as terrible monsters by a good portion of the world's population. I get that they look scary, but that reputation they carry needs to go. Unfortunately I doubt the reputation will go, so hopefully the laws performing genocide on them at least come to an end soon.

i think a lot of it is fear - large breed or stocky dogs have powerful bit pressures so if people are bitten it causes more damage - i honestly cannot remember when my dogs even barked at another dog ,, even if there getting harassed by a dog that their owner has not thought to put it on a lead,, ive had many smaller dogs come growling and my dogs just look at them - as a rule they would just pin a dog down using there weight till it submits as a breed but thankfully one of mines has only used that once when another dog attacked our bulldog for no reason
