Having an iPhone 4 at 6...isn't it a bit marginal?

It's not marginal,it's plain downright stupid.

I've just realised that there will be some here on GS who won't know what the third photo is.

Why would a six year old need a legitimate phone. It's not like he or she goes to clubbing. Tongue (I seriously hope not)

ugh when I was 9 I went to Korea and the tour guide told me, when we passed these 6 year olds using their cellphones, " Never get a mobile phone. You will have no more freedom."

How I wish I had listened to her....

I never known a kid that young to have one (sounds like an expensive habit given what all too many kids that age would do with such phones) but I've known kids not much older who did. The reason is because they can be tracked (more specifically their phone can be), plus the parents can call them (text, etc) to tell them to come home...I've seen plenty of kids telling their parents they were on their way home and/or where they were and why (that is they got a call demanding to know WHY they were where they were as the caller already knew, at least some of them did). They're essentially electronic leashes as well as tracking devices.

ETA: Of course they're not sold that way to the kids...after all they double as punishment by taking them away if the kid wants one. And when kids see other kids have one trying to be cool about it then the other kids want one, too. And so it spreads.
