Sun Necklace
#1
Dog run, sent to sea,
Girt and ready, a tablet of sea,
And a mobile,
And a starling,
Crosses the slush, the moonlit, the stardust,

Bleak though it is, the sun turns out to be a dying thing,
Things are never as they seem.
The hands of a million men, like pearls on a string,
Could not buy even the smallest river god.

God-done, mend to hill,
Broke and gone, a sac of silt,
The Opposing,
The American,
Cuts through the grapes, the wetness, the heartrust.

Tame to the core, the heart of child starved,
A muscle cannot learn the spine,
A heartbeat cannot listen, and feet of zero to sixty.
A million suns can be strung onto a pearl necklace.
