Well, hate me if you must, but I have had Virgin Mobile for years. Except for Sprint, all the other phone companies in the USA are nothing but greed/hatemongers. They dont have customer SERVICE of any kind...they have customer HARASSMENT!!!! And added onto that, corruption, theft, and lying to my face.

Its getting to the point Im not going to be able to have a phone anymore.

As for the original post.......

Well, unless you are willing to lead a revolution and get your hands bloody, there is no way these people will ever change their ways. The "3rd world" countries are constantly up for sale to the highest bidder. Doesnt matter if they are religious or not. The governments change every 6 months to 2 years. The laws never stay the same.

Petitioning these governments only gives them a good laugh....and kindling for fires.

They couldn't care less about what you think or feel. Unless you have the money to enact a coup and take over, then your just shit outta luck.

I don't really know whether to cry or to fly to Uganda and cut open some throats...and bathe in the blood of extremist religious groups and extremist politicians

And you're right...bussineses will be made, as the oligarchic elites care not about whom they do it with, but rather how much money they can make..
Actually, no, not just Fred Phelps... but moneyed groups of activists that have fuelled the ideas across the Atlantic. I don't know the names of these activists, though they could be found, surely.

princealbertofb Wrote:Bowyn, not sure what you mean when you say that freedom and equality are brand new concepts... Surely they existed in antiquity. Explain what version of equality and freedom you mean.

I mean real equality. Not lip service to a half baked notion of what 'all men' means.

The Greeks, Fine Ancient Culture, gave us Democracy and the ideals that all men are created equal, well accept that theirs was a slave economy and equality wasn't actually for all.Rolleyes

Romans, again if you were Roman you were equal, if you were anything else you were less equal.

Modern times, Women being treated as equals - Sheesh, it wasn't until 1960's that women got really freed from the hearth (but are they, still many questions about about wages). Blacks equal to whites - only in lip service, racial profiling and two men with the same exact resume can go applying for the same job and 3 times more often the guy with the white skin is hired instead of the black. Ask black guys how easy it is to get a cab in Any City USA.Rolleyes

It is an ideology that is maybe 500 years old as a real all encompassing idea applied to all people. But then as late as the 1920's men thought it was preposterous that women would be included as 'all men are created equal'. Woman's suffrage may have won the Vote legally, but plenty of males were none to amused of that change in the law of the land in August 1920.

So when was this idea of that all humans are created equal really set in? Has it set in yet? Jews, Blacks, Gays, Women, Orientals, Poles, Gypsies, Aryans.... We are equal, you who are not us - - - not so much.

I know, Bowyn, the concepts of freedom and equality are as old as the hills, I'd say. The interpretations have changed with times, and people who have been endowed or to whom these things have been bestowed as well. Nothing is fixed in stone, which is why the fight will never be over, and we shouldn't take things for granted.

Agreed that the reality rarely (if ever) matches the ideal. That doesn't mean that the reality should be accepted without a fight.
