Windows *sodding* Vista
#1
Hokay, the time has come for me to upgrade (read: replace) my trusty old Dell XPS PC (which I bought in 2005), and my brother Herz has offered to build me a PC from scratch (he's a GENIUS that boy) to keep the cost down ...

After much debate betwixt us two, I have relented and gone with his suggestion of Windows Vista as my O/S of choice. My previous experiences with Windows Vista have been utterly lamentable, so I was just wondering whether any of you guys has it and if you'd like to make any comments, suggestions or recommendations to a Vista Virgin like myself.

Cheers !!

Bighug xx.

Hey Shadow....

I think Vista as an O/S now as they have released their service pack and gotten rid of a lot of their bugs..... Is okay

The trouble with windows is that so may people and companies hate them, that they just cause them grief

I have Vista on my PC and Laptop

They both work fine

BUT

MAC !!!!!!

is the only way if you can afford it

I have heard nothing but rave reviews from all my friends that use it

Have fun and enjoy........

Do you have the new Windows Office 2007

I love it !!!!

No, sorry, I have no experience of Vista. Too many horror stories. I commissioned a new pc about a year ago and decided to stick with XP, which suits me fine.

I have an Apple too ... why are so many Apple users such missionaries? The most irritating thing about an Apple computer is the way it smugly tells you the application you have been slaving away in for the past three hours has "unexpectedly quit"! It doesn't take a genius to notice that their work has just been flushed away (sometimes I remember to save as I go :frown: ).

I did like the Apple advertising campaign of a few years ago though (as seen on stickers in Volkswagen Beetles everywhere)
Windows 98 = Mac 89

I read a lot of PC mags and all I hear about Vista is you need a TON of RAM. I would recommend getting as much memory as you can afford. Depending on what type of Vista you decide on use the minimium listed memory as trash... go for the max that your computer being built by your lovely bro will take. Over here memory prices has been falling and falling.

I have the new Leopard running an a high end MacBook Pro. I understand that Vista tries to copy Leopard... Leo is just soooo pretty. I have a multi touch track pad - oh so fancy... This sh!t is pretty cool.

Lol2.

Thanks boys,

Yeah I've plumped for 4GB of RAM with a 2.66 Dual Core Processor (which has most likely been marginally upgraded since we originally spec'd it out - he had unlimited reign to adapt the spec on my say so), and 2 x 1TB HDD's for all my games ... and porn. Lol2.

Seriously though, I'm *hoping* that with 4GB of RAM I'll be able to run the O/S and my games, 'coz Video Games to me are like Blood to Dracula.

THE GAMES ARE THE LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Seize him and take him to the dungeon!I hate the new Office with a passion. They took everything about Powerpoint and turned it on it's head. It's mighty difficult making charts now,I miss the good ole Chart Wizard.Office 2007 does look good on a Vista machine though.
