Laugh and yes you're not wrong, I heard this too. Confusedmile:
Hippos are very terretorial... however you can't go killing them because of their natural genetic makeup?! You have to learn to live with them.

I remember watching a documentary once that (if my memory serves) said that a Hippo's bite can EASILY go through a man's leg *rubs his legs and thanks God he lives on an island where the only dangerous wildlife are the locals*.

We have loads babe, but no naturally poisonous or dangerous animals live here ...

We have things like rats, moles, voles, birds, geese, chickens, goats, rabbits, lizards, squirrels, morehens, owls, bats, herons, one species of snake (the "grass snake"), that kinda thing.

There is the crapeau - a toad that gives Jersey natives their nickname "Crapeau" (pronounced "Crap-o"), and yup we have a zoo (although we're not allowed to call it a zoo anymore - it's a wildlife preserve) Rolleyes.

We have Andean Bears, (I think they're Silverback) Mountain Gorillas, Snakes, Poisonous Frogs (I think they're called Treedart Frogs or just Dart Frogs ? - the ones that are bright yellow or green or blue, and which secrete a toxic venom when frightened), Otters, Flamingos, Aie-aie's (again, not 100% on the spelling :redfaceSmile, Livingstone's Fruit Bats, Mountain Chickens and loads and loads of other things ...

We also have this thing called the Gentle Lemur Walk, which is an open pathway with ropes and things in the trees, and Lemurs and Tamarins are always darting about - they have completely free reign and can interact with people ... one came and sat on my foot a few months ago bless it ... SO wish I'd gotten a picture of it :frown:.

... but no Tigers or Lions, nothing like that ...

Awww!We only have one zoo in Cape Town called Tygerberg Zoo,it's a 30 min drive from the city so it's like you're in the grassy plains of...well,Africa!Unlike the colossal Johanessburg Zoo,most of the animals at Tygerberg are free roaming as they are in their natural habitat.Have you seen a white lion?A perfect way to get the most out of Tyger is to take a safari ride.Shadz, you just MUST come to see it,so beautiful!
