Afternoon Musing
#1
I find my mind wanders a lot in lectures, so in my refill pads of lecture notes there are pieces of poetry i've written. Generally i write ironic haikus. Sometimes though, something more substantial appears...

Quiet time, blink and yawn while
simple rhyme doesn't really add much,
like dreaming sheepishly of a touch
that's really distant, my caring smile.

Cool white coffee, lukewarm and sweetened
a while ago when warm and wakeful,
easing stifling yawns like a gracfeul
delusion, it'll rain on my weekend.

And misty snow, smoky fresh
will fall, uneasy, to an empty ground
that doesn't care, flaky, unique, unsound
like ideas in the cold, grassy mess.

No sleep tonight. Not sleep but then
my selfish self, I desire, I lack, I want.
A naive know it all, from beginning to end.
