Old vinyl records -- Where to get Appraised?

A friend's parents have two large tubs of old vinyl records, they gave me to see if I can get any money for them.

There are 4 "books" of 78's, 3 "books" of 45's, plus a lot of other 45's.

I have looked on ebay and found some price for some of them, but thats not collectors prices or an appraisal price.

I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and I need to find a free way to get these 78's and 45's appraised before I take them to the used book store to sell.

I have looked online but have not found much. What sites I did find, do not have the 78's I have here listed on their site.

Does anybody know of any free appraisal in my area, or free online appraisal for these records?

Perhaps you could individually look up each record to see what they're generally going for online, on official record sites (if they even have those?) and sites like Ebay? You'd kind of get an idea of the going rates on them that way...

Thanks, but these are apparently so old, they do not come up on any online music list I have found/used.

There are some of the same listed on ebay, but the prices on ebay are not collectors prices or appraisal prices. I need appraisal prices.

I think if you find the lowest prices available for a specific record on ebay and discogs (one of the biggest record sites online) it will give you a pretty good idea on what it's worth.

78s aren't vinyl but shellac. They break. Vinyl doesn't.

Only use an accredited appraiser. Forget whatever Ebay has to say or sell. You're in an area where the smallest detail can be worth thousands. Example; There was 78 of Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas", millions sold. However on a very few, the label was mis-printed and that makes it very valuable. You can't know that kind of minutiae, only a reputable professional will. Above is listed a firm in Dallas of which I've heard. This doesn't guarantee them but suggests they do have a good reputation. Go on line and look for collectors of records and ask them, not us, who they trust for honest, current (these things vary) valuations.
