LGBTI & out recording acts
#1
Ok, how about we use this thread to talk about (and post videos from) artists who are gay and out.

*note - this isn't a gossip thread or to discuss who is 'rumored' to be gay. Let's keep it to artists who admit to being in our community.

Steve Grand (born 1990) is an American musician and singer-songwriter from Lemont, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. He became an overnight internet celebrity and was acclaimed by some to be the first openly gay male country musician to attract mainstream attention in the United States. The music video of his first hit "All-American Boy" went viral on YouTube in less than a week in July 2013. This attention landed Grand on “Good Morning America,” CNN and other national media. Buzzfeed ranked the video on its list of the “24 Most Brilliant Music Videos from 2013,” and Out magazine named Grand to its annual “Out100” list of the year’s most compelling LGBT people. In addition to being a musician, Grand has become an active figure in the LGBT equality movement.

In 1987 Alta Dustin broke into the freestyle scene with her debut single "One Man Woman" and its follow up "Tonight".

She was made up into a "pop-tart" but the truth was, Alta was a lesbian who wanted to record a different style of music.

After the two singles charted, she recorded a debut CD called (ironically) "Should've Known Better". The CD didn't chart, and follow up singles flopped.

Many years later, Alta resurfaced, now out and proud, and released a CD of folk style music called "Dychology 101"

Ah, Rufus!

He's on the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack, but I'm not a fan of the song he did on it, "The Maker Makes".

There's always Ricky Martin.

He even recorded a duet with Madonna.
