Seems like people don't stick with a job very long anymore.
I have reached 20 years at my current job and was wondering if I'm an anomaly?

I've only had two jobs my whole life. First job from 1987-1997, second job from 1997 to current.

No, many people stay at there place of employment for a long time. Most higher up administrative jobs require a pretty long time in that field/place of employment. There has to be experience people to run the place. For most places I would say 15% to 20% of the people are employees account for managing.
With that being said, I don't think people keep the same job title for a long time because they tend to move up in ranks as time passes. Yeah, sure, many people do keep the same place of employment because it's hard to find a job and get readjusted.

I've only worked for the company I do now. Started Sept 2008 so coming around to 6 years...
Started as a weekend till operator while in uni
2010 moved to weekday sales assistant
2011 (later in the year) got weekend supervisor
2012 moved to weekday supervisor
2014 got management!
So for me I guess as long as I can keep progressing I'll stay with the company.

November was 16 years... My boss died. The new boss is selling the property as soon as he can... I suspect another ten years is possible.

I was a paper-boy for the Fort Worth Star Telegram which lasted 6 years (age 11 thru 17). I joined the Navy at age 17 and stayed there for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy, I spent 3 months at a job which I disliked and quit. I haven't worked since that time. So,,, the last 21 years I have been fully retired from the workforce. I was lucky...
