In reply to the question about taking fiber supplements: the powder your dad took may have had a couple of purposes. As for you, the same effect can be had with good diet. You need about 25-30 grams of fiber per day in your diet. Read labels and look on the net for 'fiber content of (food)' to see how much you are getting now and then build up to the right level. Beans, oatmeal, whole grains, veggies, fruits are all good stuff and much more fun to consume that powders. Wouldn't you rather have a salad than a pill?
