I think he's just..., ugh why I can't find the right english words to talk about these issues
it's something like a teenage boy, impulsive in actions whereas he isn't really that bad from the inside. Moreover, he lives in PR, seems like he doesn't have many friends, that's why he seems to really care about this virtual world.
Time will change anything, just don't make it a big deal, hope so

Yes. Plus one about your statement that free speech does not free you from consequences. I think also that people have to understand that free speech allows anyone to make a fool of themselves.

I really hope he does. He's not someone I dislike, he's just made some horrible choices, and a couple of them pretty major within forum communities and then he has gotten so far into it that is difficult for him to back out and he keeps on going instead of leaving it alone. I don't think he's evil, just sometimes misguided.

One day he was looking sad and I asked what was wrong. He said that he was miserable and that he was feeling things he never felt before. He described it as a mid-life crisis. He will be 50 this year and is dating a 24 year old. So I guess I was traded in for a newer model.

After such a long time, such an abrupt change has to be a shock. He must have been thinking about this for a while, so it was not a shock for him. Hope you can look forward to a different future as you sort things out.
