Went to a World AIDS Day service Monday night. I am reminded (again) that my friend who died in 1996 at age 25 does not have a quilt panel. I talked to the woman from the Names Project and you do not need to be a family member or get their permission to make one.

I have a design in my head... only problem is I do not know how to sew. Maybe if I design it I can get a friend of mine to help me.

Sounds like a really nice idea , I say go for it and get a friend to help you out.

^^^ That is brave Lex IMO...I have thought a lot about what stand up comics have to face. I finally settled on the feeling of skydiving and the parachute may or may not open....

That's perhaps a bit excessive. If the parachute doesn't open, you die. If my material bombs, I walk off stage to scattered polite applause from about fifty people I probably won't ever see again. Yeah, it was uncomfortable, and nowhere near the reaction I wanted, but it's survivable.

I got a long encouraging message from a (full-time) stand-up comic this morning, as well as an offer to perform (something non-comedic) later this month, so I'm feeling even more positive about the whole thing.

Lex, like others have said you are very brave and have the right attitude for being a successful stand-up. I admire your outlook on life and positive attitude.

I would prefer to stand up and give a eulogy for someone who died tragically than ever do comedy routines in front of an audience. While I have no problem spinning a story and getting people to laugh...it has to be over dinner or in a meeting....it is why I admire anyone who has the balls to do stand-up.

So will you post a pic of your nakedness once the braces are removed?

So agree. Takes so much guts to do that no matter the material. I couldn't do it. Videos are easy in comparison as you can just show what you got right.

My mom is always on me to try stand-up but I hate having the room's attention on me. Writing is my outlet. I give you props Lexington.
