I was right. Mammoth lost. But they asked us to come on the field between quarters to do a goofy contest. We had to throw plastic fish to our partner, and whoever caught the most won an autographed jersey. We ost that, too, but had a good time.
After the game, I told a couple of the players, "We mulled over who was going to be the catcher...which is kind of funny - you think we would've figured that out after seventeen years." (Yes, they laughed.)

I started seeing this thing pop up on my Facebook feed. It said something along the lines of "Don't scroll past this. Instead, let's interact. Share a story about the two of us, and what we did together."
Thing is - I invariably saw these posted by people I didn't know at all. They're all friend-of-friends, or extremely distant business associates. So even if I was inclined to share a story, I don't actually have any.
Yesterday morning, I was glancing through Facebook, and saw this post again. And as per usual, it was somebody I didn't know. But then I noticed something. Nothing said the story I shared had to be true. So, on impulse, I hit "respond" and started typing. It was long, intricate, and completely off the top of my head. I said we had attended the same high-society party-of-the-year several years in the past. ("It got so not getting an invite could drive a man into depression, and even an institution. Remember Carlton DeWitt? Tragic.") The story began with us exchanging desultory comments at the start of the shindig, drifting apart, and only coming together later in the night, when she and her date walked into the cabana by the pool, and I was there in a compromising position with the pool boy. (I was also wearing a gorilla costume. Long story.)
She finally read the post this morning. And laughed enough to wake up her husband. I should try this again sometime.

Clocks move forward here in the U.S. tonight and I am glad because I would rather have that extra hour of daylight in the evening than morning.
