What are you doing right now?
It was told to me again that my typing style is offensive to some. Somebody admitted that their friend unfriended me on Facebook because my postings made her fly into a rage everytime she read them. What was it I was doing?

Double-spacing after a period.

Of course, when I learned to type (on a manual typewriter), this was considered correct. So I've carried that idea (and muscle memory) forward when I started posting online. But over the past couple of decades, this form apparently has gone from "standard" to "quaint" to "old-fashioned" to "a sign of illiteracy" to "borderline offensive". I'm not entirely sure how, in a online world of "teh" and comment sections, that double-spacing can have room to offend, but I don't make the rules. So consider me on the slow path to single-spacing now. It'll probably be a slow move, but I'll get there.

I didn't even know it would display more than one space in online text editors. Every time I've tried on any forum, it only ends up displaying a single space.

Even if it did, who the fuck would notice the difference?

Someone needs to lighten up or get off the planet if they assign little things so much gravity. Jeez.

I double-spaced all these sentences. As predicted, they did not show up.

I always double space after a period. That's what I was taught in typing class in high school, that's how I've typed for the past 28 years, and it's not gonna stop now. If anyone ever told me that they would 'unfriend' me because I double space after a period, I'd tell them to suck a dick.

Hey, I don't mind trying to learn to single-space, if it actually and truly offends people. (And I've been told - yes, it assuredly does.)

It just seems so damned weird. In my Facebook feed, I'm confronted with horrifying news stories, tons of ugliness of all sorts, and people on both sides of the political divide screaming bloody murder. And THIS is what offends you? It almost literally could not get any smaller. It sort of reminds me of the guy I worked with who got into a major battle with a co-worker who wouldn't reset the microwave to display the time when he was done with it - that literally was making him crazy. I guess some people just freak out about what I consider the small stuff.

Getting ready to install a new headliner in a 67 Mustang. Of all the things I love to do on these cars, this is at the bottom of the list. In fact it's not even on the list. I hate it!!!
I can EXPLAIN it to you but I can't UNDERSTAND it for you

Fear not, Lex. I do it all the time. I also refuse to apologize for it. Someday, when life gets longer, I may attempt to go for a singe space after a sentence, but for now I retain my old habit. I do not agree with Cellar Dweller's suggestion that objectors to the practice should be told to suck a dick. That is like punishing a child by feeding it birthday cake.

Having put double spaces at the ends of the above sentences, the computer then "corrected" my errors when I submitted the post. Perhaps said Faceplace asswipe should suggest to the admins at that silly site that a similar feature be enabled there.

I'm offended by people who take offense at spacing between sentences

Vaping, drinking coffee, reading and posting to this forum and later will probably read. Tomorrow night I'll get together with my neighbor for a chat at his place.
