This is a fairly long but interesting article on down to earth sex education in India. Some of the questions asked might seem naive in the country of the Karma Sutra but it is elightening.

"• Is it possible to contract Aids from pets?
• What is the difference between anal and oral sex?
• What are periods in girls?
• I am 20 years i want to know what is meant by orgasm
• hello sir i want to ask just one question: does coffee affects sexually??? does it decrease our interest in sex or do breast size decreases???"

You must understand Indian society. This is something I know very well.
Girls and boys are separated totally while growing up so each remains a complete mystery to the other. Most people's first experience is on their wedding night with a person they maybe have met once and sometimes not at all. Arranged marriages are still common, although love marriages sometimes occur nowadays. Most Indian men are like animals when they grow up because they've been completely cut off from women all their lives. In this one specific way, it's not too bad to be gay (although society as a whole frowns upon it and it will probably get you kicked out of your home). A lot of Indian men that I know have seen a lot of porn because they had never seen a naked woman before. It's like denying a kid chocolate and you wake up one night to find he's eaten 10 candy bars and is in a sugar coma. We have a similar situation in the US where sex is considered taboo and yet, at the same time, it permeates everything in our culture.
So many adults know as little about sex and their own bodies as children do. I don't think it's something to be made fun of (I'm not saying the OP was making fun, he was not) and I applaud people like this columnist who are trying to change things in India. Especially when Hindu mythology is rich with sexuality.
The Kama Sutra is much more tame than people seem to think. I wonder if people have actually read it? There is just one tiny section about sex and it's not even that exciting.
