Am I the only one here who can't chew vegetables?

I thought of the saliva thing, too.

Try steaming your veggies. You can get a simple basket steamer pretty cheaply and they are great tools. Steaming will let you cook to the desired texture and still retain a lot of color and flavor.

If you try V-8, look for the low salt kind. I think it actually has better flavor than the regular one and you probably don't need all the salt anyway.

Another possibility is vegetable soup. Do you like green salads? Purees? One of my favorite soups is to steam yellow squash or zucchini and carrots and some onion until they are soft, then whiz in a blender with a little of the cooking liquid and maybe some milk or half and half. Vary the liquid to taste. Season with a pinch of salt and some pepper. Serve hot or cold. You can do this with nearly any vegetable

larafan25 Wrote:Yeah like, I can chew anything else. In fact, when I eat raisins it's kind of the same. I end up with these tough little bits near the back of my throat, but I can swallow them with zero hesitation. Yet when it comes to carrots and peas, not to mention celery, the worst for this, I just can't.

I assume it's most likely just because I hate them. They were raw anyways. Maybe I'll try some veggie juice.

Raw? I love cooked veggies like carrots, cabbages and broccoli, but can't eat them raw to save my life. But anyway, the veggie juice is a good option.

You do know what the hardest thing about eating a vegetable is?

It's getting Him back into the wheel chair.

Maybe softer veggies? Broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower all go down easy.....A stew is a great way to easily digest lots of veggies too, as it becomes more liquefied. Here in Wales, we have one called a Cawl, which is a delicious stew, especially if you mix in some cheese. It's pretty easy to cook too. Recipes online everywhere.
