Wouldn't it be amazing, if this were to be introduced in the UK.

This is the actual message you get when you phone the Australian social services/benefit office! Fantastic....

'GOOD MORNING, WELCOME TO "CENTRELINK" THE AUSTRALIAN SOCIAL SERVICES AND BENEFITS OFFICE'

"Press '1' if you speak English."
''Press ‘ 2 ’ to disconnect until you can ….. Have a nice day . ”

to be fair, there are many British/American/Australians living abroad who insist on communicating with public services in countries which don't have English as an official language....
Don't forget that people don't always arrive in a country having amazing fluency in the local language. It does take time.

That's not what comes to my mind.

It's funny! But not very nice. Australia is in close proximity (direct flights) with countries where the majority doesn't speak english. Taking that into account wouldn't be asking too much.

I think it would work better if it was more along the lines of:

IF you are straight, please press one.

If you are not straight, please press two to be disconnected now.

I find it shameful that any LGBT would disparage any other minority based on anything. Simply because we in the LGBT community are not that far removed from the hatred of bigotry.
