Yesterday afternoon a guy approached me to talk about the property, and when he learned I am the caretaker, and do the lawns and gardens and stuff like that he opened up the negotiations for potentially being my next employer.
He has two acres of land and wants something a bit more stable than a once a week team of Mexicans coming in. Since the estate sale was going on, he told me he will call me either Monday or Tuesday to hook up a meeting.
His wife wants trees, and wants a bit of elven magic on her property. I know where they live, have walked and driven past it many times before... Yes it needs a bit of help...
I told him I'm unable to drive due to the epilepsy, he appeared to be ok with that. So that whole 'must have a drivers license' thing that most people demand appears to not be an issue here.
I had a lot of people comment that the property is really nice. Mind around these parts most places are wide open and full of brilliant, hot sun. Here we have the woods and I have tended to keep the property more of a woodland/natural appearance. So the property is a refreshing change from typical properties in the general area.
In truth I have dumped hella lot of elven magic into this place...
I sold the last bits of my truck right out yesterday, I watched the last of my truck get loaded up and hauled off to be reused and converted into a recreational (hunting) vehicle. The guy has a new engine he can drop into the old beast. So I found a new home for it.
I also sold a few koi and a few 'weeds' - well I consider them weeds. People asked to buy, I insisted they take for free and in a fit of rage they threw money at me... I don't understand this behavior, people wanting to give me money? What the hell is that all about?
So the event turned out ok, nice even.
A friend of mine is going to check with his Lawyer Offices in Los Angeles, to see what I can and cannot do exactly. There is a minor possibility that they might take on my case.... Won't know until tomorrow.
The thing is I just don't know how to use search engines.
I have been trying to get a basic idea what the median salary is for a live-in property caretaker. Google keeps on throwing up a lot of hits for caregivers (those who give personal care to a person). Caretakers? not so much.
I'm trying to figure out how the price of rent, utilities and other stuff off sets the amount of work done.
My friend wants me to list all of the stuff I have bought and did over the last 17 years...
I have no idea where to start on that.
