Hey wondering if anybody else on the site is one of Satan's Gondoliers as the surfers none-to-affectionately call us?
I started paddling last fall on our annual trip to Florida... I didn't have any lessons or anything, they just threw me on a board in the Gulf and I did okay, knelt part of the time. I bought my own board (a used Hobie DuraSUP) in the middle of summer and took a lesson from a cute young guy just to make sure I was doing it close to right. Took every chance I could to get out there for the rest of the summer and rented one on this year's Florida trip too. Although my balance is improved I still prefer calm water to the Gulf and have no strong interest to compete with surfers for big waves. Hopefully by the end of next summer I will be pretty good at it.
