The recursion one could be interesting *if* you keep your memories -- but i think the whole platonic notion of it is that one only remembers *some* (Knowledge with a capital K) things; the idea is to somehow learn how to retain more memory (Knowledge) to the point where one can break the cycle of death and rebirth. I want to emphasize that "knowledge" here isn't what we think of -- e.g., book learning. It is AKA "Great Knowledge" AKA "Spiritual Knowledge" -- the knowledge that is at the heart of the maxim: Know Thy Self.
