to be fair, he wasn't trashing the airline passengers. he was trashing the airlines and the aviation industry specialists operating in the area. careful with reading too much into it when someone expresses a negative opinion about something.

i read the same thing you did and i didn't get any negative implications directed at the passengers. some people are subjectively primed to associate a certain manner of speech or way of expression with some other things. that is where it ends, and does not mean the content was such.
