Gay Parties

East Wrote:It was fun matty...I wish you could have gone to some of them too...I would have invited you....

It might be weird today though because so many people kina live on cell phones...and take a lot of pictures. I wouldn't really be cool with anyone taking my picture at a party...

LOL I suspect much of what I witnessed and/or participated in in the early 90s would have been very different if cell phones with cameras were a thing.

East Wrote:YES! This is exactly what I am talking about. There was always a party every weekend and people would talk about it the week before...and after...and crowd control was easy because it was kinda understood how things worked.....

Looking back..there were some really great parties and I loved the vibe and meeting people and having great conversations....it is sad to think that has disappeared.

The club scene was definitely the gateway though ...didn't think of that before.....it wouldn't work now because too many things have changed. I don't think I ever gave a second thought to someone ripping me off in my house and I don't remember ever hearing it happen to anyone else...I don't think you can say the same today...

I never went to any of the pop up parties but the promoted one I loved that was kinda "official" was the annual bartenders bash at Trocadero Transfer in SF....damn....
I think you're ready (ripe) to write that book, Eastie... It would make for great reading, I'm sure.

Get yourself a shadow writer... lol. Tell them the stories, and let them do the writing. You proofread for any factual mistakes or insensitive expressions of your thoughts. (Did I really say that??? )

East Wrote:I never saw that but probably you are right. One I can think of is in It's My Party...not "why" he was having a party...but the general feeling was there....
Got that film, not watched yet. I tend to distill the films about AIDs among the lighter-hearted stuff, because it's just too much pain, every time.

East Wrote:I guess I am not sure what grindr actually is...dating? Sex?...have never been there but hear it referenced (and complained about) a lot....

...and of course it was a chance to meet other guys but as big of a slut as I was...I was mostly into conversation and having fun with my friends and/or making new ones...didn't really think much about hookups or sex. My mind switched gears I guess at a party...I was more likely to have a crush on a guy than want to fuck one....
Cute... I just love your take on things, Eastie.... (sorry, got to get endearing with that name of yours)... Bighug

Rareboy Wrote:Big house parties definitely used to be the thing. Particularly before the 2008/2009 economic meltdown and in an age where more than half the guys under 30 weren't still living in their parent's house.

....but times changed....a lot of us shifted to smaller dinner parties with less din as we became partnered....and now, I imagine that these big parties would be packed with beautiful things standing and sitting around checking out Grindr or txting one another in the room.....
Haha , Rareboy, are you assuming that all gay guys only lived with one parent? Are we all the products of broken up families with the dad missing and the mother being overbearing?

That's OK PA...I have nice thoughts about the name "Eastie" from a political site I was on for years. The other liberals would refer to me as "Eastie" ...the right wingers referred to me as "delusional fuckhead" Rofl
