Fashion Show Features Exposed Genitalia
#21
This is quite an interesting piece, although not at all functional.

That said, the putting forth of the male genitals is hardly a new idea in fashion. Think about codpieces of the Renaissance.

I've been trying to think of a clever "Emperor's New Clothes" joke, but I can't...

Because this is just the plot of "The Emperor's New Clothes."

but the only question is "where was the haute couture in the first post (link)?" i only see a piece of rag and a penis. few years ago when i was a kid we had the same heute couture in our cellar:

ShiftyNJ Wrote:Yes, you have been helping me see that, and that's a great way to frame it. In a sense the clothing, as well as the theater of staging these events, is the show itself.

Kind of like drag. They're always talking about "giving runway" so....
I think you're right, Shifty, Haute Couture is not only about making beautiful people look even better or more attractive, or more stunning, it's also a research field for clothes and what would be wearable or not, and in what occasion. Fancy patterns and ways of assembling things to be worn always leads to some simpler version that actually CAN be worn by the populace. It's also a very creative and artistic endeavour, so not to be sneezed at any more than one would sneeze at painting or the moving pictures, or literature, or scupture. One day maybe, the emperor's clothes won't be just sheer, they might be made of light enveloping our bodies.

For references to Hans Christian Andersen's tale about the naked emperor:

haha, mrex, you're funny. Someone said that people could even look good in a potato sack.
Marilyn Monroe was such an example. Stunning.

At least this one was 'coutured'.

not something i'd wear or even want to see on the street, but on the catwalk, i think it's cool they're doing it. it's bold and comfortably so. fashion shows aren't about real clothes people wear in real life anyway. it's a show. like movies isn't real life. you can improvise and apply your imagination to bring about whatever you want.

i like that picture.

Actually it's quite practical. Imagine that you're longing for a pee, you don't have to fiddle with buttons or a zipper and flies, you can just pee, straight away, and not have to worry about fiddling to put your junk back in your underpants without that last drop soiling the inside of your clothes.

Note how even the horse is made to take notice... (at least, that's what the ad suggests).

These clothes are like CUBISM. No one saw the point of cubism at first. A few decades later, we've all seen the point of deconstructing the point of view and seeing something from many angles.
