Nanaki Wrote:FF7 is my favorite but I like most of the FFs and a lot of other old RPGs. It's always nice to meet a fellow FF fan! Do you enjoy any other RPGs or video games?

At the time FF7 came out, the part where Cloud had to dress as a woman was kind of groundbreaking. And I always got a kick out of the part where Cloud got into the hot tub with all the other guys - the sound effects of all their bodies squeaking together in there was unforgettable LOL.

You mentioned in your profile that you are a tea drinker. What kind do you like? I enjoy basic black teas the most. Especially a good English breakfast blend.

I'm not a connoisseur. Usually, I just drink black tea (nothing fancy) with a drop of milk. I've noticed that it gives me spots, so I should probably stop. I like green tea, too. I'd drink any concoction, really.

I'm not really a gamer. My favourites are FFVII and FFX. I love Sonic 3 and Knuckles, too, but that's not really high-brow, if games can be high-brow. I remember trying FFVIII and FFIX years ago but, due to technical difficulties, I didn't get very far. I might try to change that soon. I just realised, I've never actually finished FFVII completely before. In the past, at the final hurdle, I would have used cheats or else I would have given up. That's something to do before I die - beat those weapon things and finish the game.

Rareboy Wrote:Have you thought about possibly getting some clinical evaluation and counselling regarding your problems with socialization and apparent disassociation from pleasurable acitvities and pastimes?

A 21 year old, with no mental or physical issues should not be so quickly identifying themselves as shut-ins. And it appears that you have had a severely delayed sexual awakening......I have a cousin with some of the same tendencies and he has been diagnosed as a high level Asperger's and with some constructive psychological supports, has been able to more effectively connect with others and activities.

Please give this some thought in order to help you live a full and interesting life in the community.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think there's anything severely wrong with me, though. I could be better, but I can function. I am bored/dissatisfied, but i don't think I'm suffering. When spoke about hobbies, I meant it as a joke about how boring I am. Sorry if I mislead you - I can enjoy some stuff, if I make the effort. I like doing maths.

Have you been tested for Asperger's?

From your other thread about masturbation, it is clear that there is some developmental issue unless you are just 'joking' in that thread as well.

I am not joking. I am a bit weird. I don't think I have Asperger's. As a child, I think I was alright until I started school. I went to playschool (pre-school), but when I started primary school, I froze. I am a bit weird, though. I think I'd like a doctor to give me some clear answers.

^ I think that a doctor is definitely in order here. We have several high functioning Asperger's individuals in our family...including an engineer and a musician.....some of your situation seems to reflect theirs....(although I've never asked them about their masturbation practices)

Hello Adam. Welcome to GS! Wavey

I often see in forum sites people who have to seek advice about their problems with socialization and often their time on the site is short-lived, their discussion limited to just a few threads and then they are gone. My advice to you, don't be that person. Stick around and seek the advice and encouragement you can find with a lot good people here. Also become a part of the community, and when I say "community" I am not really talking about that larger thing out there people call the "gay community." I am talking about this forum community. Participate not just in the advice seeking threads, but in other topics including some of the lighter ones. You want to improve your socialization skills and this online community can be a good place to practice those skills, a step in between being alone and taking that bigger step into the real world. Look at the threads here and think of you would respond to the posts and then do it. Use this place to seek the advice you need, but also use it as a place to practice conversation. Learn to share the "you" with others.

Is this a game of Chinese whispers? It's Andrew (Andy if you want), but I actually prefer Adam. That's a nice name. You can call me Adam if you want.

chibigiraffe Wrote:wow, we are very similar, except i actually started coming out to people. and i can totally relate to everything you were saying about your feelings towards other guys changing. i was always very intimidated by guys and i always assumed it was because i was jealous or envious. but now i know its because i was denying my attraction towards them. now i don't feel initimidated by them. i do however still feel weird around guys i find attractive...

I get the intimidation part. I feel intimidated by many other boys. It may be partly due to attraction and partly due to inferiority. I am short (5 foot 6 inches) and I don't have a very manly voice. My voice changes a lot. A lot of the time, I hear a girl talking. Sometimes, it sounds deep. I've noticed that my voice sounds deeper if I'm talking to girls who are shorter than me. I always thought I was above all that; that I didn't need to be big or manly, but I suppose maybe I do/did and I should be honest about that. I have no control over my voice - when my voice goes high, I can't lower it. I suppose the "gay voice" is something a lot of gay people get frustrated/paranoid over. Only I'm not paranoid - I can hear my voice. Ah well, being gay is probably the only interesting thing about me.
