It's going to be pretty damn boring. 3 of the 4 acting categories are pretty much sewn up already with Juliane Moore, Patricia Arquette and supporting actor. Only movie, director and lead-actor are still somewhat open. Nobody cares about all those technical categories, focus, short films etc anyway. I hope NPH has a great opening number and some good jokes.

Not even the red carpet is all that interesting anymore.

Of course I won't miss a minute of it....

Sorry devotees, I think the whole thing is a colossal waste of time and money. To look at the financial toll for the limos alone is enough to convince me. Our culture spends enormous amounts for trivialities like this and ignores the real needs of many, many people. Think what good could be done if the glitz were cut back and the savings put into charitable causes.

My friend lives not too far from where the Grammys take place, and his favorite activity day-of is to go out to the area and watch all the cars get towed away so there's room for the limos...

I rarely see more than one movie in the theater per year (and last year's was "Spirited Away"), so the Oscars have become a bunch of people talking about a bunch of stuff I don't know about. So, typical gossip, but better dressed.
