TigerLover Wrote:Ha. James Lee Hard nice to meet you my names Dickie Roccard.

Wait that's not your actual name is it? if so i'm sorry for implying that it's a porn name. Smile

If it's not his real name, it is, at least, his nom de plume. I've checked the book on Amazon, and it is available for £4.99 which is quite cheap for book these days.

How many copies are you having printed, @jamesleehard ?

jamesleehard, hello and Welcome to GaySpeak. I was wondering, as a newcomer to the site, if you had any other purposes to come on this site, other than promoting your newly published first book. Congratulations. I personally would like to know a bit more about you. How old are you now? How long have you been pursuing your publishing dream since we know it was since the age of 13?
How did you come up with the theme? Did you study to become an author, something like creative writing? Good luck with the sales of this first novel and good luck with writing the second one.
One of my other questions is how much does it actually cost to publish your own book? How much are you expecting to make out of the sales?

Hello there!
Trying to answer everyone here.

So, this is my pen name, not my real one. Although it would've been funny if my parents had given me this name. lol.

I've published 3 books since I first posted here and I'm writing 2 other ones. The price you've mentioned I'm guessing is for the print book, but I sell mainly ebooks, not paper. It doesn't cost me anything because my books are printed with CreateSpace, which means they are only made when someone buys them.

I'm 37 and I worked for many years as a tech journalist. I didn't study to be an author. I just read a lot and wrote a lot for many years because I love it. One day I've decided I'd just finish a story and publish it. That was 8 months ago. Smile

It doesn't cost you anything to make a book. You can publish with Amazon as an ebook and it's totally free. The costs you have are with buying images for your cover and someone to edit and proofread your work. Other that that it's free, even with CreateSpace and the paper version of your books Smile

Hope I've answered everyone's questions.
Happy Sunday Smile

I thought I had replied everyone the other day but now I'm not seeing my answer. o.O

Anyway, trying to answer everyone:
James Lee hard is not my real name. It's my pen name - although it'd have been awesome if my parents had given me a name like this. lol

Regarding the questions about my printed books TigerLover, I d0n't print copies, they are made on demand. CreateSpace (the service I've used for this) only prints books that are purchased. Anyway, most of my sales are from ebooks, not from the paper versions.

As for princealbertofb questions, I'm 37 and I've worked for many years as a journalist, so writing has been something close to me since an early age. I've been working as an author only since this January or so and in the mean time I've written 2 books and a short story. I'm now working on 2 other stories which I hope to publish in the next few months. It doesn't cost you anything to publish your book. It's totally free on platforms like Amazon. You're costs are with cover art or hiring someone to proofread you book - very important. But publishing your book is free. Even if you want to do it in paper, it's free. CreateSpace doesn't charge you for it.

I'm a little behind on this thread, but I just wanted to say how excited I am for you!

As a published author myself, I know the struggles of taking a piece of work that you've spent so long on, and releasing it for people to read and possibly critique.

You certainly seem to be doing well. I wish you lots of luck, and I encourage you to message me so we can talk marketing tips Smile
