^^^There are PLENTY of people and towns in California where this is an accurate portrayal. They are racist and homophobic. Thankfully..the urban areas outnumber them...

...and if California passed a law such as Indiana did...I would be first to support any kind of boycott. I would participate in it and welcome the characterization...just as I welcomed the very fair characterization of Americans by the rest of the world when we invaded a sovereign nation based on lies under GW Bush.

My California pride would end if we passed a similar law such as the one Indiana passed

It IS entirely fair to hold Indiana accountable...and any other state that passes legislation intended to discriminate against any part of the population...

It is also fair to characterize a state based on this kind of law. If the "good people" don't like it...they should have done something about it. Silence is not golden.

The State is "accountable" for bad legislation, but we were asked to buy a pedigree as a combo pack.

If that pedigree is relevant, then so is California's. If California is afforded a "good populace" and "bad populace" based on their attitudes, then so is Indiana.

Indiana is no more monolithic than California is. It's wrong to talk about gays as "them," and it is wrong to talk about Indiana as "them." There isn't a good bigotry. It's always bad.

I'm still not hearing why we aren't supposed to disdain California for the egregious discrimination voted in when Prop 8 passed. Temporary insanity? Not the "true" California? A tad too convenient.

I said that the bill was misleading and a lot of people admitted when they thought they were voting YES they believed it was a YES FOR Marriage Equality...and it is NOT the same as the bill in Indiana...or Mississippi...

Nobody's saying that, Hardheaded. Where on earth did you get that idea? Hasn't California moved on to somewhere a bit more equal? Nobody wrote that Hoosiers were all the same. Even you wrote Indiana, as a state, but the state is an entity, not individuals, where laws apply -- its laws. So if the law discriminates against gays, would you want to go there? Such was the original question. If the same laws were to become law in California wouldn't we be asking the same question about feeling welcome there? There's no reason to justify why "we aren't supposed to disdain California's Proposition 8, because that too was a shocker. It was misguided and disdainful." But that's now been reversed, hasn't it?

when you have the CEO of Apple speaking out against these various states and the discrimination laws they are trying to pass then big business will listen - they will no doubt hit these politicians where it hurts most by taking their money /investment out of that area to another state with equal law for citizens (I hope anyway)

Well...with alot of pressure from boycotts and the threat of economic loss.....Indiana has "amended" it's bill....

...but I am not really happy. It happened for me in Ferguson...and now in Indiana. I stopped watching the news for the most part some years back though I still saw bits and pieces on the internet and alot from Bill Maher and some local news....

...and I have been following the Indiana as well as Ferguson stories...

...and what gets me...the Republicans outright lie with no problem...more lies than truth....and not a hint of remorse about it....

Same with Ferguson but I don't know the political affiliation of those liars but they were sending racist emails about Michelle and Barack Obama...so I am assuming..again..Republicans....

It seems worse now...the lying has become the norm. It disgusts me.
