Tyler Clementi's Parents Launch Anti-Bullying Project

In 2010 Tyler Clementi took his own life days after learning that his college roommate used a webcam to secretly live stream his romantic encounter with a man in a dorm room.

According to NorthJersey.com, the parents are now launching an anti-bullying campaign to honor their son.

I can't begin to imagine how his parents still must mourn his loss. Tyler's story hit me hard when I saw it on CNN. I've been that fragile. I hope this new campaign is more effective than the "It Gets Better" campaign message. Don't get me wrong, I loved the idea of "It Gets Better" and all the peer support from well known people.

My main complaint about "It Gets Better" was that if I had seen this in middle and high school (back when god was a boy) it might have made me feel less alone and fleetingly in a better state of mind. And then after the next bullying session (usually the next day) I would have shouted "When? When exactly is this better going to happen? I need it to get better now!". Maybe this campaign will fill that hole.

I applaud their efforts...and I hope that this message can effect a real change in the way kids who are bullied can respond...and feel like they will be safe...and they will be heard.

I remember when Tyler was posting on a certain forum... he seemed okay, just annoyed... we were devastated by the news.
