gonna have to go with the not manscaping perspective. different strokes for different folks...

we get turned on by different things. my question was more a generational perspective... why does the current generation of young men feel it necessary to trim or manscape.

I don't and I'll not... we all have different turnons. Mine personally is a guy who doesn't manscape... but the world might get boring if we were all the same.

Electrical shaver to cut the longest hair and then a regular shave with a Gilette to remove the smallest hair.
My beard grows very fast and in 7 days from the shaving day I look like a beggar, so I have no choice but to use both kinds of shavers.
My hair grows very fast as well, so if anyone has an idea how to slow down that growth or even stop it, I'm open to suggestions.

I sometimes do it. Not sure why. Perhaps to see if I can or for the fun of it? Some variety in the bedroom is a plus.
Oh and then there's the butt. My hair is very thick and course, so for analfun I need to be shaven. That's a holiday special treat though.

It's a tactile thing for me. I don't like the way coarse hair feels to the touch. Most of the time I just trim but since [MENTION=21440]StingRay[/MENTION] turned me on to Shave Secret I might get more daring.

For those of you living outside the USA who can't get "Shave Secret" (some Amazon suppliers won't ship outside the USA), Argan oil which is more readily available in Europe at least, will do the same job.
