I don't think we caused the outbreak of stupidity currently sweeping across the heartland.

It's not the "heartland" Rareboy. It's the fundamentalists and they're everywhere just in higher numbers in some places. They come in several colors but mostly white and black. Mostly now their churches are supposedly "nondenominational" or "nonaffiliated" on the surface. Don't believe it when you hear it. Calling themselves that makes them seem less offensive and dogmatic than admitting which denomination's doctrines they're passing off as generic all purpose all inclusive christianity.

And it's not like they're a majority anywhere either. We're close to Rapid City SD and this whole county is conservative. The day SCOTUS ruled on marriage the first licenses issued in the state were here in Pennington County. I started researching some things just out of curiosity... This is a 68% Republican 96% christian county and I suppose the others in western South Dakota would be the same. That night on local news they'd polled people to find out where they stood on gay marriage.

I couldn't believe it. Only 26% were against it. The next day I was up early and had local conservative talk radio on because I figured they'd have load to say about and lots of nasty call ins... They didn't mention it once. There were less than 2 dozen people who called in about it and I was counting the negative calls. There were THREE in three hours they were on. Most of the callers said it really different make a difference one way or another to them but they hoped people would settle down and get back to important issues.

What I'm getting at is the people who are raising all the ruckus about gay marriage are a teeny majority. I'm sick of hearing about them too. They're totally ignorant and even though they have the same freedom of speech all of us have that's no reason for what they say to still be news... it's not worthy of being called news.

If they news channels and sources quit rewarding ignorant behavior with air time... I bet they'd all go to their rooms and pout.

That's exactly right; it is all about getting attention. That's why I pay no attention to THEM... I'm more interested in what the political center thinks/feels about it.. so thanks for that update. It's pretty much what I expected as the majority of them have no dog in the fight.

Hahhahaha! MikeW... I've got up an hour ago to set the table and thought I'd forgotten about it. BLAM! I was hit in the face with it again. with it being reported on news ... I didn't listen, I hit mute before they could come back from a commercials.... and I got irked with it all over again... hahahaha! Then one of the B&B guests came up and I mentioned it all to him and he totally ignored the point I was trying to convey and said,you know last night Bill O'Reilly said gays are acting like Nazi storm troopers....."

I laughed and went back to what I was doing.

I do not want to ever hear about what fundamentalists say, I don't want to read what they say or ever discuss what they say... it's total bullshit and I don't have time for it ...

Now.... when they stop talking and go into action against gays... let me know.

People always need someone to blame for things. If it's not gays, it will be communists. If it's not communists, it will be "god". If it's not "god", it will be their neighbors or the government. You can't prevent it so just ignore them.

When we get blamed for something like this, just do what I do. Apologize on your FB back, and then move on. It usually gets a few laughs.

Just in case you're serious I've already got the kayaks out and loaded the dogs and cats in them... Just give me some sort of sign before you deluge South Dakota... something like a dove or a talking snake will do.. maybe turn the moon to blood or come impregnate me without fucking. Don't burn my bushes or do your fire and brimstone routine. I just paid 80 sheckels to get everything fertilized mowed and trimmed.
