LONDONERVJ Day
#1
Today is VJ Day, the day that Japan capitulated and thus brought to an end WWII. Some 20,000 allied troops died in the Far East, some 12,000 of them at the hands of the Japanese when they were forced under slave conditions, to build the infamous Burma railway.

Japan capitulated after Germany and those survivors who returned home felt left out and under appreciated. Today however, in the UK, they have been remembered at a service at St. Martins in the Field attended by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Even if you are too young to remember the events, there for the grace of all those who gave their lives, go we.
