It's not like he's globally famous or anything. Couldn't he just put on jeans and a T-shirt and go hit up a bar.

Volunteer at a homeless shelter, Habitat for Humanity, local hospital, read stories to kids at a library, learn a craft, set up a non-profit foundation to offer low interest loans and put a billion into capitalizing it, get a job as a woodworker or a computer programmer, take up knitting, read books, find an old lady and take the time to talk to her, deliver groceries to shut-ins, learn to cook a really good spaghetti sauce, hire a trainer and get healthy, grow decent apples an tomatoes that taste like tomatoes, make sausage, research new uses for bamboo, hike the Appalachian Trail or the Pacific Crest Trail or both...

I do honestly get the guy's point, but if I had enough money not to need to worry about running out, I know there are things that I cold do for fun or to help people. He could even toss a couple of million my way and watch what I do with it. For starters, I would pay off my bills, get the house in shape, help some kids, sponsor some musical education and travel. I have no desire for a showy house or fancy clothes, but it would be great to enjoy good health and adventure.

I thought he would have his own gaming company by now, but I agree with LJay, it's a ton of other stuff to do and people to help with a couple billion dollars.

I offer my hand in marriage to any single billionaire out here, provided there is no prenup.

I read about this and felt a little bad for him. But then I just considered sending him a sweet email and closing it out with asking him for money.

Honestly, this guy can do so much to feel better. Go consult with a therapist and they would more than likely ask you to do things that fulfill you. Donate your time and volunteer. Meet people who are less fortunate. Get something you are passionate about and pour your money into a good cause. Do some of those things and it's impossible to not feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. It's not that hard...but if you just spend your money on booze and boobies and mansions then yes, you will feel empty inside after a while. None of that creates a sense of great contribution to anything other than yourself, which is about as non-fulfilling as it gets.

like denzel said, money cant buy happiness but it makes a great down payment.

im not one to preach how the minecraft developer should spend his money, but he can definitely find numerous ways to pay it forward.
