Coloured Contact Lenses

I recently got a pair of ocean-green contatc lenses (non-prescription for forty euro lasting a year and a half) for my birthday!

Though putting them on can be a trek (-___-"), they're actually worth it! People double-take when they look at me now xD

However what disturbs me is that they came without instructions, I've had to sort of figure them out, and my left eye burns slightly sometimes when I wear them, I've been told that it's just my eyes getting used to them, which I'd like to believe, but no instructions?

Makes me worry... =/

Does anyone else have them and know anymore about them?

are they super super soft? or a bit hard? or semi-hard

xP lol, they're soft ones, they're quite sticky and they automatically gloze to your pupil...

um, they shouldnt really be sticky... are you using the proper solutions to store them in? usually that solution can also be used to rewet them as you put then on your eye...

Not sure about the burning part... could be they are irritating your eye. One of the things to check is that they are on the correct side. It might they are the same but actually there is one side that is correct. UGH, difficult to explain...

If you look very carefully at the lip of the contact it should be a perfect curve. If the lip of the contact has a slight down turn then it is probably inside out and could cause irritation or worse POP OUT.

The left could also be getting dry and ya need to lubricate your lens/eyes.

the other thing to cause burning, but odd only the one... is that youre using the wrong solution... oh, it could be slightly scratched...

did you order them online or thru an optometrist? Lenses do come in various sizes and you really need the proper size... also your left eye could be somewhat bumpy or such and causing the lens to not sit properly...

40euro is a bit to pay without instructions...

How do they really feel while wearing them? As I'm thinking of buying some my self..

i wear contact lenses myself and you need to keep them in some saline solution for 5 hours minimum the burning sensation is usually where your contact has stuck to your eyes so clean with solution first... careful taking them out as it s easily done whereby you peel off cells from your eyes which stings but they grow back in a few hours naturally... I would recommend not wearing them for ages though as u bought from abroad and no intructions came with them... If future remember no instructions IN ENGLISH = NO SALE.. People get caught in this trap.. Ensure your hands are washed first and left to dry naturally to avoid cross contaimination into your eyes.. If you get an infection and its serious jus rinse your eyes with saline solution every hour and if serious you could experience a couple of days where its painful to look at the light so be careful

Since having been forced to wear a rigid gas-permeable lens in my left eye for some years now it is quite beyond me why anyone would choose to wear contact lenses!

I would agree with most of what fjp says. If they came with no instructions you need to find out what solutions are appropriate. First of all, never touch your lens if you are putting it back into your eye unless your hands are properly clean. Don't mix up the right and left lenses. With my lens I have to clean it when I remove it at the end of the day (place it in the palm of one hand, pour a few drops of the cleaner on to it and rub it with a finger from the other hand. Rinse it with saline (not tap water) and store it in an appropriate wetting and conditioning solution. Before you put it back in your eye wash your hands, rinse the lens in saline and add a few drops of wetting solution. I've never worn soft lenses so I don't know if you have to put them in a solution to remove protein build up like I do with my RGP lens.

I had a problem recently with my eye getting very dry and sore. At first I was recommended to use a product called "Blink", which I bought off the shelf at the supermarket. You can just put a few drops in the eye without having to take the lens out and go through the whole cleaning ritual. However, the optician at the hospital's lens clinic found that my cornea was scratched and the condition I have (kerataconus) had deteriorated causing my lens to no longer fit properly. Since having a new one made it has been much better.

I don't know if any of that is useful, but seriously, you do need to take care. The eye is a conduit for infection, which is why contact lenses should never be shared or recycled.

yeppers, if youre talking about a stye can be very painful and go on and on unless your very careful to keep everything clean.

Not sure what it was about Hep C treatment but it brought on stye after stye and my GP suggested trying baby shampoo. Very important to make sure you not touch the one eye if unaffected... get the infected eye nice and wet with warm water. The stye is usually running around a lash. Get your baby shampoo on a wash cloth and rub around the stye/lash. Rinse real well and again keep your fingers off the other eye. Repeat as needed. Should feel a lot better and disappear in a couple days.
