Back when I started doing volunteer work with the homeless, I was required to get several shots (and the flu shot was thrown in for free), and none made me sick.
But then most of the time I don't get a flu shot and I don't get sick, either.
I think in part is because I don't fear germs and my body builds up a stronger constitution as a result. Though maybe I just sweat a lot out in the sauna and the like (most people who use the sauna as much as I do don't seem to get sick much either--btw, just to be clear, this is a regular sauna, not a place to find sexual encounters).
I did some observations, however, for when I did get sick...in one case I took no meds at all, in another I took OTC meds, in another I tried homeopathy. NO difference in the time I was sick...though OTC meds could alleviate the symptoms somewhat...and Granny's "cure" using a "medicinal" tea which was half-whiskey helped me sleep through the time I was sick (no wonder she used it on me when I got really sick after falling into a stream as a kid).
