Crimes on Tinder and Grindr on the increase

So, be exceptionally careful who you meet and where:

I know people that meet several people a week through these apps, sometimes at the other person's house or their own, always a real risk. Especially if you don't at least really get to know the person or have video calls first, or meet in a public place initially. But even then, it's still a risk. With those apps becoming ever more popular, that figure doesn't surprise me. When I downloaded Grindr last year just to see what's what (and promptly uninstalled it again as it was just horrible), I see there were a lot of closeted men on there. As soon as they reveal their identity, I guess it makes them an easy target for blackmail. It's a real shame these cruel people are out there, but not surprising.

One other thing to be aware of on Grindr are the Spam/Scam messages. I wrote to Grindr about these and they feigned not to know anything. Basicaly you get a message from some guy who just says something like "How you doin' bud?" You reply and back comes a message something like: "I've just been working out and I am so horny". The messaages continue and eventually lead to a pay to view site.

Grindr says it doesn' know anything abou these but my profile was in Spanish and all the messages I received were in English. Not only that, the messages came through without the sender being online. All of their very brief profiles were more or less the same; all between 25 and 30 yerars and muscular and all of an extraordinary short stature, usually about 79 cms high!!!

What is obvious is that Grindr itself is behing these messages or at least condones them. It's not a site to be trusted under any circumstances.

LONDONER you can spot a lot of spamscammers by looking at their profile and how tall they are -all of them I've come across are 2'4. No joke. Anyone that height now is instantly blocked.

I don't love grindr but I'll try anything to bump into Mr. Right.

I have never actually seen the Grinder site and this is the first time I even heard of the other one...

I think even if I was single I would not bother with them....too easy to meet guys in person if I wanted to...

I've used Grindr successfully a few times but the inherent risk of walking into a really horrible situation is always on my mind. I guess for me, using this app gives me a "fix" while I continue hoping that my forever love will magically appear and everything will suddenly be right in the world. Wink

Until that happens, I'll continue to live with the paranoia of being murdered on my way to getting laid.

People who don't enact common sense will always be victims of someone else wherever. Have common sense people, that's all.
