A little serious information, get riding instruction if you've never ridden a motorcycle. http://www.cmtabate.com/ My ex-wife and I both went through the course ABATE of Indiana offered and got our licenses without any issues. They can take absolute beginners and make riders out of them.

I'm a big proponent of AGAT All the Gear All the Time. I've been in two motorcycle wrecks.

First time I was on a very large group ride and put it down in the middle of an intersection. Hit a patch of gravel with the front tire and down it went. Skidded across one and a half lanes of road. Walked away with minor scratches, possibly a mild concussion, and the bike a little twisted and scratched. Had a motorcycle jacket, helmet, jeans, and motorcycle boots.

Second time I was going to work and hit a racoon. Bike skidded out into the middle of the road, I rolled several times and ended up in a ditch. Had enough presence of mind to grab my sides so my arms weren't flailing around. There was enough time I was thinking to myself, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, as I rolled around. Ended up on my back, in severe pain. Just stayed there without moving, though I was able to move my one leg, and both arms (Phew, I thought, not paralyzed.) Two people stopped (since my motorcycle was in the road,) one called 911 immediately, the other asked how I was doing. Lifted up the visor on my helmet and said I was OK but wanted an ambulance.

Walked away from that one with a couple of scratches, and just soreness. No breaks, no road rash. Full riding suit, boots, and helmet that time. Also gloves both times.

As far as a bike is concerned, think smaller than a 1000cc+ cruiser. Unless you are super confident I'd stick around 650cc or less. Generally these are termed beginner bikes.

Thanks for this, I plan to be a sensible driver. I'm not the type to really show off and do tricks lol ( kinda like those older biker dudes that always look like they're gonna beat you up but deep down are the biggest flaming gay guys you'll ever meet) Partly one of the reason i picked a cycle is because it's cheaper than a car and looks kinda sexy

Tho, it is pretty common and popular for guys to "pop wheelies" and do other stuff here.

I even saw a guy do one on a Pinini (Peewee Bike...like... A Dirt bike for Kids I guess you can say).

Maybe when you're older you'll need one of these:
