i don't think that's discrimination, positive of negative. it takes more than a lame metro pass to call it discrimination. some people get free rides, doesn't take time out of my day.

although, i would argue, the metro is not exactly the best place to 'socialize'. if they wanted to do something nice toward that end they should have thought it through better.

I'm not sure how handing free passes for the subway is supposed to help society become more accepting of transgender people. If you want to improve things, do something actually important and improve anti-discrimination legislation. If anything, forced-by-law acceptance is better than nothing.

I can even see a few peeps getting more hostile at them "why do they get free stuff blah blah blah"
