Take a time out, do something else, and find a better ocassion to adress the topic. Who knows, depending on the topic, if the SO is unrelenting, he may no longer be it.

This actually happened the other day on the bus, I sat at the front of the top deck on the double decker and a pigeon swooped across and flew right into the front right corner of the bus. Blood splattered across the windows and feathers erupted everywhere. Not a wise move for Mr. Pigeon!
