Advertising on UK TV
#1
Obviously directed at those who can see UK TV. I have noticed some subtle (or maybe not so subtle) gay acceptance in some TV advertising. Two examples are Travelodge and LLoyds Bank. In the first one two male characters are shown in bed together althogh admittedly one is a puppet. In the second a black horse (Lloyds logo) is seen galloping in slow motion through various scenes, first through a hospital and then a street scene in which a man is on his knees obviously proposing to another man.

Anyone else seen other examples?

I thought the UK didn't have commercials save for public announcements (like for safety, raising awareness of public issues, etc), as it was subsidized by tax dollars rather than corporate sponsors. (But it was many years ago when someone explained it to me.)

Has anyone experienced TV and radio ads in the UK and also the USA? How do they differ?

There is the BBC that is funded by the Government and the Licence Fee that is I think £145 per year paid by each household. The BBC has no commercials. Then there are numerous commercial channels as well.
