Public grieving over dead celebrities has reached insufferable levels

I remember, when Donna Summer died, someone posted on another forum about how upset they were and how much they loved 'I Will Survive'.

lmao! Did they post that as a joke? Donna Summer didn't record "I Will Survive", Gloria Gaynor did.


Regarding this topic, I've never cried over a celebrity death, I don't know them personally. I will mention them on FB, and maybe discuss them if my initial post gets replies.

While I'm not sure how I will react, but when Madonna dies, I'll be upset. Her music has seen me through a lot of hard times. But I don't think I'll be wailing in the streets.

However, grief is a personal thing, and one grieves how they see fit.

Are people actually mourning the celebrity that died, or are they simply mourning a 'time period' in their own life that they feel has now passed?
