A Chinese concept for travel in the future

I first saw a report about this about two years ago but it seems that the Chinese are going to go ahead with it in at least one city:

That is awesome. Considering the massive migration of people to urban areas in China right now, this is a really smart way to think about moving huge amounts of people while avoiding having to contribute to the existing congestion on the streets.

Yes, I saw this last week. Let's get it done, now. Cheaper than building subway networks. Although I recommend reinforcing the thing if it ever gets done here. Wouldn't want cars getting crushed under it on the first major earthquake.

Although, upon seeing the title, I thought that you were about to tell us that the Chinese had figure out how to surpass the speed of light.
