i really hate the pre-raphaelites, they talk like that they think that they could do a better job than raphael when their works can't even back what they defame about him (raphael). la pia de tolomei or whatever it is called, the woman imprisoned in a tower with raven ... couldnt even come close to raphael's work, were you could see joseph being betrothed to mary...i cant imagine how such a guild like that could exist when they couldnt even do a better job than the person they critic!

I just never enjoyed surrealist paintings. De Chirico especially, I dislike his colors, I dislike his brush strokes. I find it ugly and flat. He especially reminds me of things you'd find in a high school intro to drawing and painting class. I just feel no connection to that movement or what they were trying to do through their art.

Seeing this made me think of R. O. Hodgell, whom you may google. I have a few prints that I think highly of He was a prof at my college.
