The bible says 'man shall not lie with a man as he does a woman' for health reasons, in the same way it says (in the same chapters) 'do not sleep with a woman on her period', wash your hands under running water, blah blah blah.
The rules were in place AT THAT TIME for God's chosen people Israel so that they could accomplish what he set out to do with them by not catching diseases etc.
The word 'homosexual' was only introduced in the last 50 or so years into the Bible, the original word for it being closer to 'temple prostitute'.
